The Hamilton County school board will be voting on the district's revised budget proposal for FY 2020 at a special called session at 5:30 this evening.

The district's original $443 million budget proposal was sent back to the board after the Hamilton County Commission voted against a 34-cent property tax rate increase to allocate additional funding to the county's public schools.

Board member Tucker McClendon is expected to propose an amendment to the current revised budget that would take $6-7 million out of the district's $36 million fund balance to give teachers a one-time bonus instead of a 2.5% salary bump.
