$100,000 boat destroyed in Harrison Bay area fire

Firefighters battled a fire aboard a 50-foot boat Thursday afternoon in the Harrison Bay area, according to a news release from Hamilton County Emergency Services.

At about 12:45 p.m., a homeowner on the 6000 block of Friddell Road called 911 to report that their boat, Mamba, was on fire. Firefighters with the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene and reported a large boat fire adjacent to the home.

The worked quickly to extinguish the fire due to the boat containing 40 gallons of fuel, the news release states.

No injuries were reported.

Fire officials deemed the cause of the fire to be accidental, having started in the electrical harness area of the vessel. The boat, valued at $100,000, was destroyed, the release states.
