Rose Decosimo, a retired shareholder in the Elliott Davis Decosimo accounting firm, will be honored by the Girl Scout Council of the Southern Appalachians for exemplifying the mission of the scouts throughout her life, "living with courage, confidence and character" while bettering the world, a news release states.

Decosimo, who served on a number of civic boards throughout her career, found her passion for community service while volunteering in the Girl Scouts, according to the release. She served as a Hamilton County public health nurse before joining her family's accounting firm, which subsequently merged with Elliott Davis.

She is an inductee of the United Way of Greater Chattanooga Leadership Hall of Fame.

Decosimo will be honored at the Chattanooga area's Trefoil Society Luncheon hosted annually by the scouting organization. This year's event will be Sept. 17 at the Chattanooga Golf & Country Club.
