Woman forced from car, shot Saturday night in Chattanooga

Chattanooga police are looking for a man they say shot a woman Saturday night.

Responding to a call of a person shot around 9:39 p.m., police arrived in the 3700 block of Youngstown Road and found a 45-year-old woman with gunshot injuries, according to a news release.

She told police she was riding in a vehicle with a man when he forced her out and shot her. She then fled on foot and yelled for help, the release states. People in the area heard her cries for help and called 911.

She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No suspect information has been released, but police say they are working to locate the man.

The incident is under investigation. Police ask anyone with information to call the department's homicide tip line at 423-643-5100 or submit a tip through the department's mobile app. Callers can remain anonymous.
