The Hamilton County Emergency Operations Center is warning Chattanooga area residents about attempts from private contractors to charge tornado victims for cleanup services, according to a news release.

The center says it has recently received several phone calls from tornado victims about the issue and recommends that residents report these companies to both the Better Business Bureau and local law enforcement.

Hamilton County Public Works or any company Hamilton County contracts with will not ask for money and will not come onto private property, the release states.
