A Bradley County Jail inmate was found unresponsive in a cell on Wednesday before being pronounced dead by a medical examiner, according to a news release from the jail.
Jail staff immediately administered CPR to Joseph Dewhurst after he was found around 4:14 p.m. Paramedics arrived at the scene and shortly after Dewhurst was declared deceased.
Dewhurst was being held on federal charges at the facility.
Sheriff Steve Lawson has requested for the investigation into the death to be turned over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the release states.
