Tennessee inmate dies in jail cell

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A 32-year-old Tennessee inmate has been found dead in his cell in Nashville.

Drew Stennett was found unresponsive at the Hill Detention Center shortly after 11:45 a.m. Friday. The Tennessean reports jail staff immediately began CPR upon discovering him.

Stennett was taken to Nashville General Hospital at Meharry, where he was pronounced dead Friday afternoon.

He was booked into the jail Thursday on a probation violation charge and was screened by health professionals. The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said in a release that investigators don't suspect foul play or that Stennett's death was related to the coronavirus.

Autopsy and toxicology reports are pending.
