For the second time this week, Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant is putting into effect a temporary production suspension due to the weather.

According to the automaker, a temporary suspension of production will take place on Friday due to inclement weather's continued impact on the Volkswagen assembly plant's supply chain operations.

Earlier this week, the automaker issued an alert of a temporary partial production suspension due to weather. The plant employs more than 3,800 workers.

Volkswagen Chattanooga is undergoing an $800 million expansion to assemble electric vehicles. A new electric SUV, called the ID.4, is expected to be produced at the plant in 2022.

The German automaker is targeting buyers of Honda CRVs, Toyota RAV4s, and similar vehicles, according to the company.
