ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia man accused of assaulting multiple police officers during the attack on the U.S. Capitol has been arrested, federal prosecutors said.
Kevin Douglas Creek, 46, of Alpharetta, was arrested Wednesday by the FBI. The charges against him include assaulting, resisting or impeding officers; physical violence on Capitol grounds; and obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder.
A lawyer named in a federal court filing as representing Creek did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment Thursday.
Creek was seen on footage from officers' body-worn cameras hitting one uniformed police officer and kicking another, according to a court filing. During an interview with an FBI agent last month, Creek said he was armed with mace and a boot knife during the deadly insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
A person contacted the FBI on Jan. 10 to report that Creek had talked while at a hospital in Georgia several days after the Capitol attack about his participation, according to the court filing. The person said Creek talked about running up the stairs of the Capitol and trying to get inside and said he had been tear gassed.
Creek is the latest in a string of Georgians to be arrested among roughly 465 people charged so far in the siege on the Capitol led by supporters of then-President Donald Trump.
