Blood Assurance will celebrate its new Cleveland donor center in the Village Green Town Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The donor center recently moved from its Keith Street location.

Thursday's event will honor the life of the late Howard H. Kuhns Jr., who served for more than 15 years as community liaison, group membership coordinator and executive advisory board member for Blood Assurance.

"The impact Howard made in our area was exponential, and we could not think of a more fitting way to honor his outstanding legacy and commitment to our community than by making him our new community room's namesake," said Rick Youngblood, president & CEO of Blood Assurance, Inc.

Throughout the day, Blood Assurance will be giving away four $25 CBC Cleveland gift cards, as well as 20 free frozen yogurt vouchers from Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt. The organization will also be giving away four general admission tickets to the Riverbend Festival.

"It takes 540 donations a day in order to meet the need of area hospitals, and just one donation can save up to three lives across our region," said Charlie Callari, vice president of marketing and donor recruitment for Blood Assurance, Inc. "We encourage community members to consider making a donation at our grand opening event that will make a lasting impact on a local patient's life."
