Gasoline prices in Chattanooga fell for the second consecutive week last week after a Colonial Pipeline leak was fixed last month and gas deliveries returned to normal in Chattanooga and other markets served by Colonial.

The average retail price of gas in Chattanooga on Sunday was 2.9 cents per gallon below the price of a week ago, even as gas prices nationwide rose by an average 3.3 cents per gallon, according to GasBuddy's survey of gas outlets.

"Gasoline prices have risen in much of the country over the last week as crude oil prices rose to over $50 per barrel as market weighed the possibility of OPEC cutting production," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy. "Moving forward, oil may be on shaky ground as signs emerge that OPEC may not cut production as they indicated two weeks ago. "

Including the change in gas prices in Chattanooga during the past week, prices Sunday were 14.9 cents per gallon higher than they were a year ago and are 12 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
