Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q is set to open next month to give residents and visitors in the Hamilton Place area another barbecue spot to enjoy.

The full-service restaurant and bar is in the former spot of The Fox and Hound Pub & Grille, which was razed after the 12-year-old restaurant closed in 2016 at 2040 Hamilton Place Blvd.

Mike Odom, general manager for Jim 'Nick's, said the new barbecue eatery plans to open Oct. 16.

"There's good traffic and it's a great location," said Odom about the company's choice to open up near the mall.

The Birmingham-based chain has 41 restaurants across the Southeast, but this will be the first Jim 'N Nick's location in Chattanooga. They have five other locations already in Tennessee.

The restaurant has everything from the classic pulled pork sandwich with two sides for $13 to Bar-B-Q nachos, burgers, soups, salads, wings and more. Just a barbecue sandwich is around $8.

Although the restaurant is full service, there is also a drive-through window for those looking for just a quick bite to eat. The new restaurant will seat approximately 250 customers and includes a patio that won't quite be ready at the opening, Odom said. They are currently hiring and plan to employ about 130 people.

Odom said that in the future, probably in January 2019, the restaurant will begin offering catering options, too.

"The addition of Jim 'N Nick's underscores our commitment to offering the Chattanooga area a unique collection of regional brands in addition to nationally known favorites," said Taylor Hartley, marketing manager for Hamilton Place Mall. Jim 'N Nick's, which is new to the Chattanooga market, will complement the options already available at Hamilton Place."

Hamilton Place shoppers have several choices when it comes to barbecue in the area. Mission BBQ, a Maryland-based chain, opened earlier this year in the same development as Bad Daddy's Burgers and Uncle Maddio's Pizza off Gunbarrel Road. Also in the area is Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que, Sticky Fingers Ribhouse and Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill.
