Cumberland County Playhouse will present Kellye Cash, Miss America 1987, as Tammy Wynette in "Stand By Your Man: The Tammy Wynette Story" beginning Friday, April 27.

""I am so happy to be working on this wonderful musical," says Producing Director Bryce McDonald, who also directs the show. "Kellye Cash is going to be absolutely amazing as country music icon Tammy Wynette."

The audience will follow Wynette's journey from the cotton fields of Mississippi to international superstar in this spectacular, fully staged production. With dramatic impact, "Stand by Your Man" recounts triumphs and tragedies and explores Wynette's relationships: George Jones, her beloved daughters, her strong-willed mother, producer Billy Sherrill and film star Burt Reynolds.

The songs in the show further the plot, as in a traditional book musical. The score includes "Stand By Your Man," "Your Good Girl Is Gonna Go Bad," "My Elusive Dreams," "D-I-V-O-R-C-E," "I Still Believe In Fairytales," "Til I Can Make It On My Own," "Golden Ring," "Singing My Song" and "How Great Thou Art."

In addition to Cash, the cast features Daniel Black, Ross Griffin, Britt Hancock, Patty Payne, Jason Ross, George Richey, and Playhouse newcomer Shania Davis as young Tammy. Jensen Crain-Foster, Rachel Lawrence and Kyle Ward are featured in the ensemble.

Kellye Cash will also appear in a benefit concert at the Playhouse on July 7 at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from the concert will benefit Youth Town in Pinson, Tenn.

"Stand By Your Man" runs through June 8, and is rated PG.
