“Omigod You Guys”

Omigod! Omigod you guys,Looks like Elle’s gonna win the prizeIf there ever was a perfect couple, this one qualifies…Four carats, a princess cut,Are you psyched or what?

The hilarious story of the vapid valley girl who follows her boyfriend to Harvard, only to defy everyone's expectations by becoming a successful trial lawyer opens Friday night, July 20, at the Cumberland County Playhouse in Crossville, Tenn.

"Legally Blonde The Musical" is the Broadway show that starred Laura Bell Bundy as Elle Woods. It features a book by Heather Hach and is based on the novel by Amanda Brown and film starring Reese Witherspoon.

"Everything about 'Legally Blonde' is upbeat, clever and nonstop fun," says director Britt Hancock. "We know that this show will be sure to delight longtime Playhouse fans as well as first-time guests."

Harli Cooper is cast as Elle Woods in the Playhouse's production.

As the show opens, Elle seems to have the perfect life - she's president of Delta Nu sorority and is expecting her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III (played by Chris Hallowes), to pop the question.

The Delta Nu house is buzzing as the sisters speculate on his choice of a ring in the rollicking opening number "Omigod You Guys."

But Warner tells Elle he needs someone more serious and dumps her before leaving for Harvard Law School. Elle takes matters into her own hands and follows him to Harvard, with her chihuahua, Bruiser, to win back his love.

Once in Cambridge, she bonds with hairdresser Paulette (Natasha Ricketts), new friend Emmett (Ross Griffin), UPS deliveryman Kyle (Grayson Yockey) and fellow law student Enid Hoops (Lauren Marshall).

She encounters trouble from intimidating Professor Callahan (Jason Ross) and scheming mean-girl Vivienne Kensington, (Playhouse newcomer Emma Jordan).

Once Elle quits trying to earn Warner's respect and focuses on her own self-worth, she realizes she doesn't need to change herself to please someone else.

"Legally Blonde" is filled with witty, sparkling tunes such as "So Much Better," "Bend and Snap" and "Legally Blonde."

Ron Murphy is the show's music director and Leila Jones is the choreographer.

The musical continues through Sept. 7. It is rated PG-13 for language and some sexual references.
