Champy's World Famous Fried Chicken is marking its 10th anniversary, and the staff is throwing a birthday bash to celebrate the milestone with its customers. There will be blues, brews and birds at this event.

Champy's 10th Anniversary Shindig will be held Sunday, June 9, at its downtown location only, 526 E. M.L. King Blvd.

The restaurant will be open and serving during its regular hours of 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The birthday party will start at noon, taking place outside in the adjacent gravel lot, which will be fenced off for the event.

Dr. B & the Ease, Milele Roots, The Other Brothers and Diedra and the Ruff Pro Band will play throughout the afternoon and evening.

There is a $10 entry fee into the party. Once admitted, guests can pay an additional $10 for all the crawfish they can eat. Champy's is also offering food-and-drink specials such as $7 chicken on a stick, $8 turkey legs and $4 for a 16-ounce can of beer.

Seth and Crissy Champion opened Champy's World Famous Fried Chicken in June 2009 using an old family recipe from down in the Delta that was more than 40 years old. Every order at Champy's is fried fresh before serving.

The 10th Anniversary Shindig is a cash-only event.
