2 Deepwithin singers plan benefit concert

David and Deborah Bledsoe, known as 2 Deepwithin, will present a gospel concert benefiting the Chattanooga Community Kitchen on Saturday.

The Bledsoes have performed together and separately for more than 10 years, and recent requests for an anniversary concert led them to plan Saturday's performance, said Deborah Bledsoe.

"[It's] so wonderful to be thought of as a comfort or a blessing to people, so we decided this is the year," she said.

A media appeal by the Community Kitchen led them to designate a portion of proceeds to the center.

Bledsoe said such need "touches a soft spot in [her] heart" because she has been in similar circumstances.

"At one time I was homeless and using drugs in New York and staying everywhere with friends and strangers," she said. "God has blessed me to turn my life completely around. I met my husband, David, a wonderful musician. We began writing together for plays [and] weddings, but the gospel is the main focus in our lives. Now we travel to sing at benefits and give as much as we are able to help others."

The concert starts at 5 p.m. at The World's Church of the Living God, 2110 Glass St. Admission is $10. For details, call 208-6289 or 667-1095.
