Galactic Cowboy Orchestra headlines Riverfront Nights

When bass player John Wright had a hankering to play crazy technical riffs, drummer Mark O'Day and guitarist Dan Neale were up for it, and O'Day came up with the name Galactic Cowboy Orchestra. Violinist Lisi Wright joined the Minnesota band, along with new drummer Alec Tackmann, and GCO was complete.

They've been on the road playing music from their six CDs since 2009.

They'll be at Riverfront Nights on Saturday, Aug. 12, - along with their two road dogs, Nicko and Jackey - for a free, 8 p.m. show that fuses jazz, R&B and rock.

The Diamond Dogs will open at 7 p.m.
