Calling all Krewes: Mardi Gras reservations coming due

Three local organizations are sounding the call for Mardi Gras revelers to see to their ticket purchases so they'll be ready to laissez les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll).

Chambliss Center for Children

Chambliss Center for Children ends its early bird discounts today, Feb. 16, for tickets to its fifth annual Mardi Gras Gala, set for 7-11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Bessie Smith Cultural Center, 200 E. M.L. King Blvd.

The evening will feature Cajun-inspired fare from Events With Taste, cocktails, Dixieland jazz by the Ralph Miller Quartet, a late-evening DJ dance party and other New Orleans-style fun. The evening's newly crowned Mardi Gras King and Queen will lead guests in a parade through the venue.

Tickets are $60 for individuals or $100 per couple if purchased today. After that, the cost will increase to $70 for individuals and $120 per couple. Companies or other groups have the option of purchasing tables (quantities are limited). The Krewe level, $500, includes a reserved table for eight, beads and party favors. The Super Krewe level, $1,000, adds more party favors, signage at the event and recognition in all publicity.

Chattanooga Bach Choir

Chattanooga Bach Choir has set Friday, Feb. 17, as the last day to RSVP for its Bach to the Future Mardi Gras Gala, scheduled Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Walden Club, 633 Chestnut St.

This festive pre-Lenten indulgence and auction will include a four-course meal prepared by executive chef Joe Black and his staff, complimentary wine with dinner, dance music by Booker T. Scruggs and additional entertainment by a mystery performer. Guests are invited to compete for the title of Best Mask. Door prizes will be presented throughout the evening, and guests may bid on a variety of items during the live auction.

Those who wish to fully indulge their celebratory instincts may take advantage of the pre-Mardi Gras party at 5:30 p.m., when the River City Red Hots lead a parade of royalty and other festivities.

Reservations are required. Cost is $100 per person, $1,000 for a table of 10.

Chattanooga Catholic Schools

Chattanooga Catholic Schools will continue online registration for Chattigras through Tuesday, Feb. 21.

This Mardi Gras-themed fundraiser includes a plated Cajun dinner, dancing to party band The MaleMen, a silent auction and casino, starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at The Chattanoogan, 1201 Broad St. An online auction also is running this week at www.chattigras.com.

Chattigras benefits Chattanooga's three Catholic schools (Notre Dame, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Jude) and the Chattanooga Deanery Operating Fund, which provides tuition support to students in need.
