Concert honors ministries of Perry McCallen and Frank Jump at Second Presbyterian Church

A Celebration Concert is set for Sunday, April 28, at 4 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 700 Pine St., to honor the ministries of two former pastors of the church.

The Second Presbyterian Church Choir along with members of the UTC Chamber Singers and Chattanooga Singers, will perform a concert dedicated to the Rev. Frank Jump, who served 27 years, and Dr. Perry McCallen, pastor for 13 years.

Dr. Kevin Ford, who is the conductor of all three choral groups, will direct the program, which will include solo performances and organ solos by accompanist David Friberg, who is also the church organist. Congregational singing will be included.

"The choir will sing several things, among them Brahms' 'How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place' from the Requiem, Paul Manz's 'E'en So Lord Jesus Quickly Come,' 'The Lord Is My Light and My Salvation' by Allitsen and Felix Mendelssohn's 'I Waited For The Lord,' which features Laura Fargo and Leanne Carbone as soprano soloists," says Ford. Fargo will also perform the Alleluia from "Exultate Jubilate" by Mozart.

The program will conclude with the presentation of two plaques honoring the ministers, which will be placed in the church sanctuary.

The concert is free with a reception following.
