Love and revenge play out onstage when Opera Tennessee presents "Cavalleria Rusticana" in four performances at Northside Presbyterian Church June 20-23.

"Cavalleria Rusticana" is a one-act opera by Pietro Mascagni set on Easter morning in a 19th-century Sicilian village.

As the act begins, young villager Turiddu has returned from military service to find that his fiancée, Lola, has married Alfio while he was away. To retaliate, Turiddu has seduced Santuzza, a young woman in the village.

Lola, overcome by jealousy of Santuzza, begins an affair with Turiddu. Events lead to a dueling challenge, but will either Santuzza or Lola get what she wants?

Sara Snider Schone is cast as Santuzza and Daniel Spivey plays Turiddu. Scott Willis plays Alfio, Kal McClure is Mamma Lucia and Rachael Henderson is Lola.

The opera is directed by John Thomas Cecil. Josh Golden will conduct the orchestra.
