String Theory opens new season on Tuesday

String Theory, in partnership with Lee University and Hunter Museum of American Art, will open its 11th season on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with a performance of "L'Histoire du Soldat."

Founded in 2009 by pianist and Artistic Director Gloria Chien, String Theory brings acclaimed chamber musicians from around the world to perform in the intimate setting of Hunter Museum.

"L'Histoire du Soldat" is a narrative ensemble featuring Robert Bernhardt, narrator; Tom Van Dyck, bass; Ji Hye Jung, percussion; Alexi Kenney, violin; Peter Kolkay, bassoon; Romie de guise Langlois, clarinet; Brandon Ridenour, trumpet; and Jeremy Wilson, trombone.

The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. following Musical Dialogues, which will take place from the concert stage at 6 p.m. Musical Dialogues features in-depth conversations with the artists on their lives, inspirations and the pieces being performed at the concert.

In a first for String Theory, Lee University will host an open rehearsal of "L'Histoire du Soldat" in Pangle Hall on Monday, Sept. 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. The free rehearsal is open to the public.

Individual concert tickets are $35 for Hunter members, $45 for nonmembers, $10 for students with a valid student ID, and $25 for groups of 20 or more people. Season subscriptions are $175 for Hunter members and $225 for nonmembers.
