Visit this weekend's fall plant sales before you dig in the yard

Anyone planning to add to or redesign their home landscapes and gardens should make plans to attend fall plant sales at Crabtree Farms and Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center this weekend.

Crabtree Farms will sell sustainably grown vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit and landscape plants. Reflection Riding's sale focuses on native perennials, grasses, vines, shrubs and trees for sale. Each location will have staff and volunteers on hand to answer questions.

REFLECTION RIDING NATIVE PLANT SALE

This 32nd sale offers a huge selection of plants as well as guided hikes and educational workshops. Seven talks and walks are scheduled Friday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the last starting at 5 p.m. Eight more programs are scheduled Saturday between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

CRABTREE FARMS FALL PLANT SALE & FESTIVAL

The starts offered in this plant sale have been sustainably grown in the greenhouses at Crabtree Farms. In addition to sustainably grown vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers, visitors will find seed for fall vegetables best sown directly and cover crops for gardeners looking to feed and secure their soil during the fall and winter months.

Eight workshops with topics ranging from home brewing to how to handle garden pests will be presented between 9:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.

This sale offers family fun with the inclusion of a festival and live music. There will be arts and crafts, 10 vendors with information and demonstrations, children's activities and music by Sharla June at 10:30 a.m. and Ain't Misbehaving at noon.
