Beat summer's heat with an Ice Cream Safari through Chattanooga Zoo, 301 N. Holtzclaw Ave.

This fourth annual summer event is a kid-friendly fundraiser at the zoo from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 8. The zoo will close to the general public at 3 p.m. that day in order to prepare for the event before gates reopen at 4 o'clock

Safari guests purchase a wristband that allows them to enjoy ice cream throughout the zoo, face painting, bounce houses, animal enrichment programs and animal meet-and-greets. Wristbands are $5 in advance; $8 at the gate if not sold out.

Wristbands do not include event admission, which is $10 for adults, $7 for children ages 3-12. Chattanooga Zoo members will receive 50% off admission price, and children ages 2 and under get in free.

"We are always looking for different ways for our guests to enjoy the zoo while beating the summer heat, and we think Ice Cream Safari has proven to do just that," says Dardenelle Long, Chattanooga Zoo chief executive officer and president.

Vendors for the Ice Cream Safari include Wendy's, Moon Pie, Dippin' Dots, Mayfield Dairy, Clumpies Ice Cream, Blue Bell Creameries, The Ice Cream Show and ICEE.
