Chattanooga's Infinity Flux hosting late-night release party for 1,000th Detective Comics issue

DC Comics' leading series, "Detective Comics," is releasing its 1,000th issue on Wednesday, March 27.

To celebrate this milestone, local comic book shop Infinity Flux is hosting a release party on Tuesday, March 26, for customers and anyone interested in picking up this landmark comic as soon as it hits shelves nationwide at midnight.

Doors will open at 10 p.m. Tuesday at the comic store, 3643 Hixson Pike. Comics go on sale at midnight, and the event will wrap up at 1 a.m. Wednesday.

After 80 years, the 1,000th issue of "Detective Comics" is stacked with a lineup of talent that will take readers on a journey through Batman's past, present and even preview his future.

The 96-page edition includes an epilogue that features the first DC Universe appearance of the deadly Arkham Knight. Who is under the mask? And why does the Knight want Batman dead? The future of Batman adventures begins here.

This special, oversized issue will have 10 alternate covers representing the series through the decades. Infinity Flux will have all the covers available for sale at midnight.

The release party will kick off at 10 p.m. with Batman-themed games, snacks and drinks, prizes and the opportunity for Batman fans to talk about their favorite character until sales start at midnight.
