Families across the Tennessee Valley are invited to more than 200 events, most of them free, celebrating hands-on learning in Chattanooga from May 11-18.

Learning Days Initiative, led by the Public Education Foundation, WTCI-PBS and Chattanooga Department of Youth and Family Development, is part of the national Remake Learning Days campaign.

Events range from electric car races, STEM Jubilee and girls coding event to a book drive, PBS Kids family festival, film screenings and Zine Fest. Learning themes are featured at each event, including arts, maker, outdoor learning, science, technology, youth voice and professional development. Families will be introduced to opportunities available for educational enrichment beyond the classroom.

* Friday, May 10: WTCI invites families to a proclamation presentation and book drive at Nightfall. Guests are asked to bring gently used books for Camp K program. Camp K provides full-day programs that benefit rising kindergarten students and their parents. City Council Chairman Erskine Oglesby will present a special proclamation honoring CHA Learning Days.

* Saturday, May 11: From 1 to 4 p.m., families can enjoy a free, fun day at WTCI-PBS. There will be photo-ops with Curious George and Clifford, a fire engine tour, bounce house, face painting, PBS Kids games and historic heads created by Chattanooga artist Wayne White for his Wayne-O-Rama installation. Parents can sign their children up for this year's citywide Make.Play.Read.Learn summer program.

* Wednesday, May 15: In partnership with RISE, Urban League of Chattanooga and the Office of Multicultural Affairs, WTCI will present a free screening of "Boss: The Black Experience in Business" at the Palace Theater, 818 Georgia Ave. Tickets for this free event are available online and on WTCI's Facebook page.
