Cookie Jar Cafe is doing its part to entice the unhurried fall season with a number of new cool-weather recipes.

For starters, its menu now boasts a trio of belly-warming soups: Wisconsin cheese; loaded potato; and rib eye vegetable. And when it comes to desserts, said cafe owner Sue Ann Lockhart, "it's apple and pumpkin all the way!"

The cafe's glass dessert display is now stocked with autumn's most classic confections: apple pie, apple spice cake, caramel apple Bundt cake, pumpkin pie, pumpkin torte and more – all made from scratch. And alongside those tried-and-true seasonal sweets, Cookie Jar is debuting its new ooey, gooey sourdough cinnamon roll.

"We've also stepped up our sugar cookie game," said Sue Ann. In addition to the creative cupcakes, which line the top display shelves, diners can sample a range of sweet and colorful cookies.

And when the Cookie Jar crew is not dreaming up new dishes? It is trying to attract the season with wishful thinking.

"I have always been told it takes cool nights to make the leaves start turning," said Sue Ann. "So let's cross our fingers!"
