Convention and Visitors Bureau salutes retiring president Bob Doak

Bob Doak, the former president and CEO of the Chattanooga Area Convention and Visitors Bureau who retired at the end of February, was recognized by community leaders during a retirement party at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Doak, a former manager of both the Chattanooga Choo Choo and the Chattanooga Golf & Country Club, headed the tourism agency for 15 years during which time annual tourism spending in Hamilton County more than doubled to over $1 billion.

Leadership Chattanooga Alumni annual meeting

Members of the Leadership Chattanooga Alumni Association (LCAA) gathered at the Turnbull for the group's annual meeting in January. Peterson Hostetler, a financial advisor at UBS, was elected president of the Chamber of Commerce group. LCAA is a membership organization made up of Leadership Chattanooga graduates who gather for networking, training and support of youth development and other local programs.

STEP-UP kickoff breakfast

Step-Up Chattanooga, a program of the Public Education Foundation, kicked off its 2018 summer internship program in January by highlighting 40 businesses, organizations and nonprofits that have committed to hiring Hamilton County high school students for paid internships, starting in June. Program organizers hope this year to place 200 students in paid internships to learn about work, career and local businesses while earning money during the summer break from school.
