Make your own yogurt, ice cream creations at Sweet CeCe's

ANNE BRALY: I won't go out of my way for ice cream or frozen yogurt. OK, call me un-American, but even on the warmest of days, I'd rather have a tall glass of water than something creamy. That said, Sweet CeCe's is a good place to get frozen yogurt. A stone's throw from Coolidge Park, it couldn't be in a better location for such an establishment.

At CeCe's you can make your own creations, starting with soft-serve yogurt, then moving onto a very good selection of toppings made from cookies, fruit and nuts. My pistachio yogurt was incredibly good with an excellent pistachio flavor. Topped with sliced almonds and a few chocolate-covered almonds thrown in for good measure, it couldn't have been better: creamy and crunchy, a nice combination.

HOLLY LEBER: I love frozen yogurt. Especially the original tart flavor that reminds me of roadside soft-serve stands. Frozen yogurt for lunch is utter summer nostalgia. At Sweet CeCe's, one can go the dessert route (there are plenty of candy toppings, hot fudge, etc.) or the meal route, which is what I did, layering fresh berries with nonfat tart yogurt and a small sprinkling of granola and coconut. At the pay-by-the-ounce establishment, it cost more than I would be happy paying were I eating mostly peanut butter cups and cookie dough, but since this was lunch and fruit is good for me, I was OK with it. Especially since a place like CeCe's is a treat.

ANNE: I paid $2.51 for my small mound of ice cream and nuts, but I didn't mind since it was so much better than I expected. And when I saw yours ring up to about $7.50, I really felt better. The atmosphere is nice, though, with good views of the park out the large windows across the back. And the location is good. You have to pay for things like that. My only complaint about CeCe's is that the staff seem to need a little more register training. The young woman at the cash register told me I couldn't get a cash receipt, only credit card. Never heard of that before. And I feel sure there must be some way to provide a receipt when paying cash.

HOLLY: I'd imagine so. But yes, you do have to watch yourself when creating a custom concoction at Sweet CeCe's. Apparently I'm not great at gauging an ounce. Oh well, this is a reason to learn portion control. Or to eat mini Reese's Pieces, which weigh less than blackberries. Something that can satisfy my hunger and my sweet tooth, however, is a rare find (especially the sweet tooth; it's far more ravenous than my appetite).
