Q: Dad, if I need to tell a teacher or a boss something important, is doing so in an email OK?
A: Probably it happens all the time these days but, depending on how important it is and if you hope to continue to have a relationship, doing so in person is better. It shows you care, and it shows a level of maturity. Calling to say you will be late or not there at all is better than an email also, but an email is better than no communication at all.
