
Some things best kept unknown
Editor's note: Barry Courter has a 26-year-old son who is a college graduate and a 21-year-old daughter who is a college senior. Each week he poses a question he wishes they would ask.
Q: Dad, some friends were talking the other day about how much couples should share with each other about their past. What do you think?
A: I think we all have this desire at the beginning of a relationship to learn everything about the other person. Just know that the other person likely had someone before you, but that they don't anymore. I'd say some things are best unknown, unless that person is up for parole in a couple of weeks.
