Depending on what state you live in, Twitter says this is the beer you'll be drinking during the Super Bowl

Talk about a red-state base of support. Budweiser, the red-labeled "King of Beers," swept most of the Deep South - including Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama - in a study of the most popular Super Bowl beer by state.

The analysis, complete with a color-coded map, was based on geotagged Twitter data in the past week that tracked combined mentions of the Super Bowl and beer. More than 50,000 tweets were tracked.

"As you can see from the map, five beers dominated the conversation: Bud Light, Budweiser, Coors Light, Miller Lite and Guinness," said Ryan Taylor, a publicist with FreshMechanism.com, a viral marketing firm.

"Several other beers were in the conversation," including Corona, Busch Light and Michelob Ultra, "but none of those beers beat any of the top five in any state," Taylor said.

Bud Light was the overall favorite, meriting the most mentions among Twitter users in 18 states. Budweiser took the crown in 11 states. Coors Light triumphed in nine, and Miller Lite and Guinness tied for six states each.

The map was put together by food, drink and cooking site thedaringkitchen.com, using trends software with direct access to geotagged Twitter data.

Taylor noted a "regional component at play" for Bud Light in the Midwest, Budweiser in the South, Coors Light in the Rocky Mountain region and "a pocket of Miller Lite popularity on the East Coast."

A similar study released by another outlet earlier this week determined the favorite Super Bowl snacks for each state based on Google AdWord searches.
