John and Connie Tallman want people to be creative, be themselves and have fun.
That's why they started Brush, Paint and Sip, a mobile painting party business that helps people have a creative art experience from the comfort of their own home, church, office building or a unique local venue.

Unlike other local painting party businesses, Brush, Paint and Sip is a local startup that brings painting parties to people's homes, churches, office buildings and other unique venues around town."With painting parties, it's more about the social aspect than the painting," said John Tallman. "It's the exact opposite of serious painting. We love it when people say they've never painted before. The whole idea is to get them in and expose them to it."
At Brush, Paint and Sip parties, John Tallman, a nationally exhibited professional artist and an educator with 20 years of experience, guides participants through a step-by-step process to complete a painting of their own while they sip their favorite alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage. Currently the business provides parties at Art Creations, DeBarge Winery and Pasha Coffee and Tea, but can come to any location where there is room for a party and the requested minimum number of participants. For kids' parties the minimum number of participants is 10 and for adult parties it's 15.
"One of the things that sets us apart is that we partner with other venues," said Connie Tallman. "This concept is so much fun ... In the future, we're planning to make more partnerships with local bars, restaurants and museums."
According to her, the partnerships have been particularly well received by local businesses and have provided something really special for party attendees. The best way for interested participants to sign up for a regularly scheduled party at a local venue, or to schedule their own private party, is by using the website at www.brushpaintandsip.com, she said.
"John designed the website 100 percent," said his wife. "Everything from the logo to the colors to the wording and the three easy steps, he designed it all and it's very easy to use."
In addition to the regular painting classes and private parties, Brush, Paint and Sip also offers paint-your-pet programs. After sending in a photo of the pet, the Brush, Paint and Sip staff transforms the image to a sketch on canvas, then guides participants through re-creating the picture of their animal through paint.
"Brushcares" is an additional component of the business dedicated solely to fundraising for local nonprofits. The Tallmans welcome businesses or organizations to contact them about hosting a painting party as a fundraiser.
"We are a part of the community so it's really important for us to help give back," said Connie Tallman.
Parties range in price from $25 to $45, the fee for the pet painting class since it requires some additional preparation work. All supplies are included and participants can either purchase their own food and drinks or bring them from home depending on the venue.
