Crime-scene tape blocked off the area, bullet casings littered the asphalt, and a pair of flip flops on the pavement belonged to the 19-year-old man who had been shot.

With a wound to his hip, 126 Athens Park Blood member Quadarius "Oodie" Bowling managed to run nearly a block after a vehicle rolled up and someone inside opened fire just after noon Tuesday at the intersection at West 35th Street and Chandler Place near the Village at Alton Park.

Bowling told police he was walking in the road when an unknown gunman began shooting at him from a green four-door Pontiac Grand Am.

Bowling was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for a nonlife-threatening injury.

His is the latest blood shed on the south side of the city. It's unclear if his shooting is connected to others. Police are still investigating.

On Feb. 1, 23-year-old Charles Jones was shot and killed at 100 W. 41st St. after an altercation with three to five men.

On Jan. 20, 13-year-old Deontrey Southers was shot and killed in his doorway on East 50th Street, reportedly by members of Bowling's gang who were going after his mother's boyfriend, Bobby Johnson. Residents say Johnson is a Bounty Hunter Blood member. Balloons and a heart were attached to the boy's mailbox at his home Tuesday.

Since then, police have been arresting people in an effort to stop further retaliation. Deontrey's death became part of an ongoing feud between the groups.

Arrests have not been made in any of the shootings.
