RALEIGH, N.C. - Authorities say a North Carolina woman left her 11-year-old son home alone for about three days while she took a trip to Florida.
The Wake County Sheriff's Office says 34-year-old Laurel Clayton Schwartz is charged with misdemeanor child abuse. According to the arrest warrant, she went to Orlando from May 23 through May 26.
The warrant also says the social services officials said the child didn't eat on one night and that his room "was an environment injurious to his welfare."
The woman surrendered to deputies and was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
She is being held on a $5,000 bond, and jail records don't indicate whether she has an attorney.
