A woman found dead in Highland Park in January died from an overdose of cocaine and alcohol, and the day's cold temperatures also contributed to her death, according to the Hamilton County medical examiner.

Temperatures dropped to 35 degrees the day Simone Couch died -- she was found around noon on Jan. 26, lying on her side on the pavement near the back of a business at 2106 S. Highland Park Ave.

The 46-year-old woman wasn't wearing a coat, but she did have on a long-sleeved shirt and pants, according to the autopsy.

She wore one white sneaker, on her right foot.

The blonde-haired, green-eyed woman also wore several pieces of jewelry, and her arms and legs were covered in superficial scratches.

The medical examiner ruled Couch's death an accident.

Couch is not the only local to die on the street during this winter's cold weather. Douglas King, 64, was found dead on Feb. 17. Witnesses said he was homeless and was falling-over drunk the last time he was seen alive outside the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.

During that particular cold snap in February, 30 people died across the state in cold-related incidents, according to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency.
