A neighbor saw blood leading from the apartment of the man killed on Saturday and called police, who discovered the apartment had been ransacked, according to court documents.

Two teenagers have been arrested and charged with first degree murder in the man's death, which happened at 404 Tunnel Blvd. The victim has not yet been identified by police.

Gary Toney Jr., 19, and Javonte Davis, 17 are being held without bond in the case. Davis was already out on bond when the homicide happened on Saturday - he'd previously been charged with first degree murder in another case in juvenile court.

On Saturday, the dead man's vehicle was missing, and officers spotted it a couple hours later about three miles away on Milne Street with three people inside.

The suspects in the vehicle fled in an "obvious attempt to elude" police, according to court documents. When officers pursued, the suspects fired at police. The bullets struck and injured two bystanders, who were treated at a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Eventually the fleeing suspects wrecked the vehicle. After a short pursuit on foot, police took a juvenile girl into custody, and then arrested Toney and Davis.

Police later found a bloody knife and mail belonging to the victim at Toney's apartment.

On Sunday, Sgt. Wayne Jefferson, public information officer, said the Tunnel Boulevard slaying was unrelated to the shooting of a 16-year-old boy not far away on North Germantown Road.
