The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a smoke alarm at around 9:15 p.m., arriving six minutes later to heavy smoke and visible flames.

he fire started when the resident started cooking and left the room, so most of the damage is in the kitchen, officials said. There were no reported injuries, and the residents are staying with family members.
