Man killed in wreck on 38th Street in Chattanooga

At approximately 4:20 p.m. today the Chattanooga Police Department responded to a head-on collision vehicle crash at 600 W. 38th St.

A truck was traveling south on Alton Park Boulevard and suddenly veered left off the roadway into a vacant lot, police said. The truck continued through the vacant lot and onto West 38th Street striking an SUV that was traveling westbound on 38th Street.

Witnesses said that the driver of the truck appeared to be slumped over the steering wheel before the collision. The driver of the truck, William Grant was unresponsive on the scene and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The family of Mr. Grant has been notified. At this time it is unclear if the death was a medical condition or a result of the crash.

Occupants in the other vehicle had minor injuries and were also transported to a local hospital.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this crime to call 423-698-2525. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
