Woman dies after being hit by car while crossing street from McDonald's in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - A woman has died after she was struck by a car while crossing the street today in Bradley County.

It happened around 7 a.m. in front of the McDonald's on 25th Street, according to a news release from Bradley County EMS.

66-year-old Venisha Stanford of Alabama was flown to Erlanger Medical Center, where she later died.

The driver has been identified as 69-year-old Carmen Garcia, of Cleveland, according to a news release from the Cleveland Police Department. Garcia was driving a 2014 Kia Soul, the release stated.

Stanford was returning to the Economy Inn from McDonald's when the crash happened.

Garcia is not facing charges at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
