The good news for Tennessee is that it improved its ranking as the fourth-worst state for nurses. The bad news? It's now the 10th-worst state, according to a new Wallethub report.

Tennessee still remains one of the worst states based on a slew of poor rankings such as sixth-worst for the number of health care facilities per capita, eighth-worst for a good work environment and average number of hours that nurses work and 11th-worst for good nursing homes.

It's best rankings are in the middle of the bunch, where it's the 23rd-best state for average annual salary and adjusted cost of living, 28th-best for projected number of nurses per capita by year 2022 and 30th-best for nursing job openings per capita.
