Raymond Shumate and Jennifer ShumateA McMinn County couple have been indicted in a fiery traffic crash that killed their 7-year-old son and critically injured their 9-year-old son last month, authorities said.
A Monroe County grand jury returned indictments this week against Raymond Shumate, 31, of Athens, on charges of first-degree murder, vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, aggravated child endangerment and two counts of aggravated child neglect, according to a Monroe County Sheriff's Office news release Thursday.
His wife, Jennifer Shumate, age unavailable, also faces charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, aggravated child endangerment and two counts of aggravated child neglect.
