A Soddy-Daisy man said someone shot at his car Wednesday night while he was driving. When police didn't immediately arrest a suspect, the man's wife posted a plea for help on Facebook that was shared more than 2,300 times in 16 hours.

According to Soddy-Daisy police, the man, James Barnes, was driving near 100 Tsati Terrace around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday when he heard a shot and something hit his car.

He found a dent in his vehicle and called police. Officers searched the area but were unable to find anybody.

That's when Miranda Barnes took to social media.

"It hit our car just inches away from where our kids often are," she said. "I will give a cash reward to anyone that leads me to this punk! This idiot could have killed my husband or one of our kids!"

Maybe social media could track down a suspect when police could not, she added.

The post quickly gained traction and had been shared 2,362 times by Thursday after-noon.

Soddy-Daisy police ask that anyone with information on the case call the department at 423-332-3577.
