The Walker County Republican delegation voted against putting the form of local government up for debate in next year's primary election.

The delegation Saturday voted against a resolution, 57-53, that would have put the issue on Republican Primary ballots in 2016. If passed, voters would have been able to say if they support Walker County's sole commissioner form of government, or if they prefer multiple elected representatives.

Commissioner Bebe Heiskell was in attendance. A vocal group of critics have questioned whether Heiskell has too much power as the only elected official running county operations.

Heiskell said she would support whatever position the delegates took.
