Construction at the Dalton-Whitfield County Public Library is taking longer than expected, delaying the reopening until later in November.
"A completion target of one month was very ambitious for the amount of work we are attempting," Library Director Darla Chambliss said in a release. "We are continuing a huge facelift for the library and we are addressing any and all safety concerns that appear. At this time, it is not safe for the public to enter the building. As soon as it is safe, we will reopen to the public."
New issues have been uncovered throughout the construction, the release said. The library is getting new flooring on the upper level, new tile in the bathrooms and new ceiling tile and lighting repairs throughout.
In the meantime, Chambliss encouraged patrons to visit neighboring branches or visit the library's website.
