An Alabama man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife.

Mendez Ambrocio, 33, of Kilpatrick was arrested today after a lengthy investigation, according to a news release from DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris.

The cause of death is unclear.

Ambrocio has been in the DeKalb County Jail since Feb. 25 for possession of forged instrument and obstructing justice. Since that time, DeKalb County investigators, assisted by Fort Payne Police

Department, the FBI, and the district attorney's office, continued to gather evidence, which led to the arrest of Ambrocio for the charge of murder.

Ambrocio is being held in DeKalb County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
