A 30-year-old man is facing domestic assault charges for allegedly forcing a pregnant woman to strip naked outside a Lee Highway laundromat on Monday.

Frederick Burns, 30, is accused of verbally intimidating the woman, who told officers that she had been staying at a Red Roof Inn on Shallowford Road with Burns.

When the two went to do laundry, Burns became angry with the woman, according to an arrest affidavit obtained Tuesday.

Then Burns began yelling, cursing and demanding that the victim remove her clothing and stand in the parking, she told officers. Burns then left the scene.

The victim told police that she complied with Burns' demands because she was afraid he would "become physical," according to the affidavit.

Police took the victim back to the hotel room to obtain her belongings, and Burns was taken to the Hamilton County Jail and booked with a $5,000 bond.

An ambulance was called so the victim could receive a medical evaluation. The affidavit said the victim was taken to a safe place until she could make arrangements to return to her home in Memphis.

Burns also has a Memphis address.
