Attorneys hope to pick a trial date today for Cortez Sims, the 18-year-old accused of killing one and injuring two others during a January 2015 shooting.

Police say Sims burst into a College Hill Courts apartment and opened fire, killing 20-year-old Talitha Bowman and wounding two others, including 1-year-old Zoey Duncan, who survived the shooting but is now paralyzed.

Sims was charged with first-degree murder and several counts of attempted first-degree murder and remains in custody in Hamilton County Jail.

Brandy Spurgin, his attorney, said she hopes to pick a trial date if the defense and the state cannot agree on a plea agreement.

This is a developing story. Please check back later for more updates.
