East Ridge police arrested a woman in connection with a robbery and assault that occurred Thursday at the Kangaroo Express at 6708 Ringgold Road., according to Capt. Tim Mullinax of the East Ridge Police Department.
The woman, armed with scissors, violently assaulted a clerk while demanding the cash register key. The clerk was stabbed twice in the arm, punched, kicked and stomped by the suspect. The suspect was able to get the key after the assault, taking cash and the clerk's purse. She fled in a Toyota Scion. The clerk's injuries were not life-threatening.
The investigating detective developed suspect information that the offender was Stacie Clifton, 32, of Chattanooga. She was charged with aggravated robbery and attempted murder. Bond has not been set.
