WEDOWEE, Ala. (AP) - An east Alabama woman has been arrested in a standoff in which authorities say her husband shot a sheriff's deputy before killing himself.

Randolph County authorities say 73-year-old Brenda Marie Lee is charged with five counts of attempted murder and hindering prosecution in the confrontation, which occurred in Wedowee.

A deputy responding to a call about a domestic dispute was shot on July 9. A standoff followed, and authorities say Brenda Lee's husband Eli Lee later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Court documents show Brenda Lee is accused of stopping officers from capturing her husband before the shooting occurred. She is being held with bond set at $265,000 and doesn't yet have a lawyer.

Deputy Donnie Grant was shot in the left shoulder and is recovering at home.
