Scooter collides with SUV in Chattanooga's Southside, charges pending against scooter driver

An SUV and a scooter collided early Sunday morning in Chattanooga's Southside neighborhood, leaving one man with a serious but not life-threatening injury.

The driver of the scooter was traveling south on Broad Street at approximately 12:39 a.m., according to police, when the driver of the SUV began to cross Broad Street on West 17th Street.

Police said the driver of the SUV told officers he looked both ways but did not see any headlights.

The vehicles collided, leaving the driver of the scooter with "serious injury to the lower portion of one leg," according to a police news release.

The news release said charges are pending on the scooter driver, pending further investigation and toxicology.
